NATURE

PHOTOGRAPHY

Jeanette Sha, C'14

Comments from the judge: This is magical. No idea where in the world this is but it looks incredible!

Alexis Vorley, Age 15, daughter of Natasha (Dixon) Vorley, WG'92

Comments from the judge: I love mushrooms because they're the kinds of objects you really have to look to find! Love the textures captured on these and how even though they're not perfectly formed they're still so rad.

PAINTING

Keri Wong, C'10, G'10

Comments from the judge: Love this painting. It has great textures and I like the chiaroscuro effects as well as the vibrancy of the rainbows.

Prachi Garg, wife of Ashish Bhatia WG'08

Comments from the judge: Love the oranges in this. Is it Regents Park? I also like the perspective and the size of the parents/children.

COMMUNITY

Charles Boffin, WG'99 (AMP)

Comments from the artist: The photo was taken very recently. It shows that even in lock-down, small groups of people can take part in their own ‘community’ exercise events by being creative. This shows trail runners navigating the flooded Arun River plains.

Keri Wong, C'10, G'10

Comments from the judge: Where in the world is this photo taken? A snowman is a community effort; rarely made by one individual. I appreciate this.

HUMOUR

Lloyd Thomas, C'07, W'07

Comments from the judge: This one makes me a laugh!

Alexis Vorley, Age 15, daughter of Natasha (Dixon) Vorley, WG'92

Comments from the judge: A happy painting!

HOLIDAY

Charles Boffin, WG'99 (AMP)

Comments from the artist: This was taken in early 2020 (pre-virus) in Cambodia - the floating village at Prek Toal reserve near to Siem Reap.  All the villagers live on houses built on stilts on the water and have the travel exclusively by boat. The photo shows a mother with child paddling between houses, with water spray thrown up during the exertion.

ART BY CHILDREN

Max Schneider, Age 6, son of Anthony Schneider C'87

Comments from the judge: Love the textures and the dreaminess of it all. The winner of the Art by children category has been particularly generous and valiant in sharing this work. He reminds us the power of imagination and he made us travel to the milky way. Special thanks to Max (and his family)!
